Times of India
Victory belongs to the most tenacious, after all. Kabir Khan’s film celebrates this thought. It’s about building yourself as a champion, even when the world looks at you like a laughing stock. The film has Forrest Gump’s free-flowing nature and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’s essence to it, but unlike the two, this one feels a tad rebellious.
Hindustan Times
By not mounting this real-life story on a big canvas, Kabir lets the subtlety and simplicity of this story take center stage, and it works. I loved the way he sprinkles a generous dose of humour in his storytelling to make the story so relatable and light-hearted.
The Indian Express
Kartik Aaryan goes full-tilt at playing Murlikant Petkar. It is a demanding role, which follows the film’s arc, as it recreates its subject’s life from being a puny ‘pehelwan’ in his village ‘akhada’, to being a jawan in the Army.
Koimoi
Kartik Aaryan delivers his career-best performance in Kabir Khan’s Chandu Champion. His physical transformation to portray Murlikant Petkar is commendable, reflecting the actor’s dedication to staying true to the character. Kabir Khan has brought out sincerity in Kartik’s performance, allowing him to embody every emotion and dream of Murlikant Petkar with honesty and depth.
