Movie characters that were the most relatable

Time and again, Bollywood has presented characters that were too relatable to forget. Whether it was comedy, drama, or a good old woman empowerment scene, some characters just make us want to be like them. Their charm and the grey areas in their character elevated the plot to new levels forming a great bond with the audience. Here are some of the most relatable characters:

  1. Rani in Queen:

Rani resonated with everybody who has felt the pangs of heartbreak motivating them to break free from the shackles of society. Women resonated with Rani to a great extent especially when she talks about how girls aren’t allowed to do anything in the conservative household hse grew up in.

  1. Farhan in 3 Idiots:

The timid Farhan played by R. Madhavan who laughs at everything throughout the film is one of the most relatable characters in the film. We dare you to unsee Farhan laughing in the background when you watch 3 Idiots now. And let’s face it, everybody has said some version of “Abba nahi maanenge” in their life.

  1. Kaira in Dear Zindagi:

A career-driven Kaira resonated with all the millennial women who are constantly questioned about marriage and their unconventional career path. Kaira paves her own way in the world and even seeks out therapy when it’s time to take care of her mental health. A true icon!

  1. Sid in Wake Up Sid:

Sid is just your average boy-next-door trying to find his footing in life. The soft nature of the character who just wants space to follow his passion struck a chord in everyone in the audience.

  1. Akash in Dil Chahta Hai:

Ask anybody who would want to be in Dil Chahta Hai and the answer will be Akash 9 times out of 10. Although he had his flaws, Akash was the goofy friend of the group. After his falling out with Siddharth, Akash apologizes to people as he realises that he might have hurt them. The character arc of Akash evolving into a mature adult is inspiring.

  1. Jai in Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na:

Jai was patient, sweet, funny and an all-around good guy. The most relatable part about him is how he stands by his friends in need. Whether it is a sad Aditi who has lost her cat or his girlfriend Meghna who cannot come to terms with her dysfunctional family.

  1. Geet in Jab We Met:

Geet has resonated with people who are her or want to be like her. Her talent of being able to talk to anyone, and I mean anyone, has our heart. Geet’s breakdown in the film hurts so much because she is one character who people loved to see smiling and talking everybody’s ear off in her own perfect little world. Deep down, we all wanted to be Geet.

  1. Geeta and Babita Phogat in Dangal:

The dedication, the hard work but most importantly, the defiance in the characters made them extremely relatable to the audience. The sisters emulated the zeal to defy authority and hide from their strict ‘bapu’ perfectly. The ‘sehat ke liye hanikarak’ song also elevates the characters’ attitude towards the wrestling training.

  1. Sulu in Tumhari Sulu:

Sulu is a relatable character in her quirks and the goofy way in which she breaks out into song every now and again. An inspiration for housewives everywhere, Sulu has the audience’s heart.

  1. Ved in Tamasha:

Ved is a reflection of everyone who is stuck in a dead-end job just to make ends meet while putting passions on the backburner. Ved finally breaks free from his self-inflicted limitations when Tara breaks his heart. The jolt inspired many and served as fuel for igniting the fire of passion.
