Emotional rollercoaster movies that should be on your watchlist
Bollywood movies have been our only true friends through it all. It’s gifted us with some great cinema that has touched our hearts and some that has made us laugh our lungs out. We’ve all secretly loved emotionally supercharged melodramas that have made us weep like babies. Thus, here are some of our all-time favourite Bollywood movies on our playlist.
1. Kal Ho Na Ho (2003)
Act as strong and ‘macho’ as you’d like but we’ve never met a single Indian who’s watched this Shah Rukh Khan, Preity Zinta, and Saif Ali Khan love story and hasn’t cried their eyes out. Especially in that final scene of Aman in his hospital bed, revealing why he kept pushing Naina away all along.

2. Baghban (2003)
Uncle Raj and aunty Pooja go through hell in their old age because their nalayak kids refuse to take care of their ageing parents. Although kind of a drag towards the end, “Main Yahan Tu Wahan” really made us sob.

3. Rang De Basanti (2006)
This is one of those movies you can never get tired of watching! Starts off as a fun college drama with some fun moments but quickly takes a patriotic plunge so deep and hard, it can bring out the desh bhakt in the most non-patriotic person.

4. Taare Zameen Par (2007)
This has to be the most educational and eye-opening movie about our flawed education system, the misunderstanding of learning disorders, and the love of family. Ishaan’s tearful scenes from the song “Maa” wreaked emotional havoc on us that we still haven’t recovered from years later!

5. Rockstar (2011)
This Imtiaz Ali movie has achieved cult status because of the stellar music by A.R. Rehman and the brilliant acting of Ranbir Kapoor. We don’t know about you, but our Nadaan Parindey really got out of hand by the end of the movie because of how freaking sad the ending was.
