Dharmendra’s story is one that stays with you. S simple boy from Sahnewal, Punjab, who rose to become one of Indian cinema’s most beloved legends. Born in 1935, he grew up far from the world of films, but one school-day movie changed everything. A Filmfare talent contest win brought him to Bombay in 1960, marking the start of a remarkable journey that would span six decades and more than 300 films.
Dharmendra began his journey with his debut in Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere (1960) and quickly became every filmmaker’s favourite. After charming audiences opposite Meena Kumari, Nutan, and Mala Sinha, he redefined himself with Phool Aur Patthar and Mera Gaon Mera Desh, earning the title of Hindi cinema’s original “He-Man.”
