5 Interesting facts about Rockstar

A beautiful symphony which when played to the beat, leaves you in a solemn silence of love and longing, that's what Rockstar essentially feels like. A story of that one true love who you hope to eventually meet at a distant meeting place beyond the right and wrong doings of life. Today we bring to you some interesting and lesser- known facts about this masterpiece by Imtiaz Ali.

  1. Ranbir Kapoor wasn't the initial choice for the iconic role of Janardhan Jakhar. If reports are to be believed, Hrithik Roshan and even Saif Ali Khan were initially thought of being cast as the Rockstar. Now that the movie has celebrated more than ten years of success and fandom we can't fathom anyone else playing this character with this depth and intensity.

  1. Ranbir Kapoor actually learnt to play a musical instrument for the first time. He learned to strum the guitar to be as ‘into the character’ as possible. He also made it a point to be present during all vocal and instrumental recordings to understand the essence of the music which makes the movie what it is.

  1. The stunning and gorgeous Nargis Fakhri who marked the beginning of her Bollywood career with this film was in fact unaware of Bollywood and its scale before she was roped in for the role of the quaint and lovely, Heer. She had, in fact, signed up for the movie to gain more insight into her parents’ culture.

  1. This movie marked Shammi Kapoor’s final performance as an actor. A celebrated artist he portrays the role of Ustad Jameel Khan in the movie, someone who recognises Janardhan’s potential for what it is.

  1. The movie was shot in reverse. Upon the release of the film, it was later revealed that the movie was shot in reverse - with the climax first and the beginning being shot later. This was done to accommodate the story in accordance with Ranbir’s hairstyle which was long unkempt hair during the time.

Revisit the iconic world of Jordan and Heer when you rewatch this movie with your special someone. You're sure to be lost in the utopian paradise of these lovers.
