Before landing her debut in Dum Laga Ke Haisha, Bhumi Pednekar worked as an assistant director at Yash Raj Studios for six years. She assisted in films like Chak De! India, Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year and Teen Patti, before making her shift to acting.

Pednekar once revealed to Farhan Akhtar that she watched her debut film Dum Laga Ke Haisha in the theatres once every day for 45 days after its release. The actor was also joined by the film’s director, Sharat Katariya, at these screenings.
