Best movies of Bollywood actress Vidya Balan

Vidya Balan is a force to reckon with, a name synonymous with an amazing acting prowess and storehouse of great talent. Our Bollywood favourite who has never failed to surprise us with her iconic theatrical performances, pouring her entire self into the character she essays, with true dedication of a great artist.

We bring to you some of her stellar performances from movies she has acted in, over the years:

  1. Sherni

One of the recent popular hits delivered by the actress. The movie revolves around the important subject of the relationship of humans with their environment and wildlife conservation. Full marks to the actress for going ahead with scripts that tackle imperative societal issues at hand and leave a lasting impression on the audiences’ minds.

  1. Kahaani

Based on the story of a pregnant woman and her determined attitude to find her missing husband. This mystery thriller will keep you hooked till the end. Owing to its popularity, the movie saw a sequel released in the year 2016.

  1. The Dirty Picture

We saw the rather demure and humble actress in a bold and sultry avtar in this offbeat movie, loosely based on the life and story of late South Indian actress Silk Smitha. This movie earned the actress a national award while making her song and dance sequences from the movie go insanely viral.

  1. Mission Mangal

One of the first of its kind, this movie is loosely based on the relationship between the scientists behind the first interplanetary expedition (Mangalyaan) of India to Mars. It stars many popular stars including Vidya Balan, Akshay Kumar, Sonakshi Sinha and Taapsee Pannu.

  1. Bhool Bhulaiyaa

Another movie where the two stars Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan worked together, though not in opposite roles. The actress delivered a stellar performance in the role of Avni that is remembered till date. The comedy movie was very well received and touched upon important mental health issues in its climax in a subtle manner.

  1. Parineeta

A Vidhu Vinod Chopra film, directed by Pradeep Sarkar, the romantic musical drama was a coming-of-age movie during its release. Based in the 60s in Kolkata, the sets, costumes and screenplay did complete justice to the story and that period’s rustic charm.

  1. Paa

With Amitabh Bachhan, Abhisek Bachhan and Vidya Balan in lead roles, the movie touches upon the subject of a rare medical condition affecting their only loved son and how this family comes to terms with it in their own manner.

  1. lshqiya

A dramatic comedy movie with Vidya Balan and the great Naseerudin Shah essaying lead roles, the movie received positive criticism and was widely loved by the audiences.

Whether it be diverse story lines or an offbeat script, Vidya Balan has justified being an iconic actress of this era and we hope we get to see more of her talent on the big screen, always.
