10 dialogues from Tamasha that showcase the reality of today's world

The most dramatic yet relatable movie of 2015, Tamasha carved its own niche into the audience’s minds and left an indelible impression that's always fondly remembered. We can almost taste the waters of a distant fresh water pond of Corsica as Deepika and Ranbir just casually take a sip from the same. Let's take a walk down memory lane and visit our most favourite dialogues from this epic tale of friendship, parenthood drama, music and love, which tells us a bit more about today’s world.

  1. “Andar se kuch aur hi hain hum. Aur bahar se - majboor.”

Nothing speaks volumes about today’s youth and their myriad of confusions and opinions as this dialogue by Ved does.

  1. “Mujhe tumhara naam tak nahi pata. Koi umeed nahi hai ki mai tumse phir se miloongi. Magar main tumhare saath hoon. Ye possible hai? Aisa feel karna?”

The emotional and dramatic scene where Deepika as Tara unravels what she loves most about Ved- his wit, charm and humour which set him apart from everyone else, all while denying his proposal for marriage.

  1. “Wo toh acting thi naa. Wo mai role play kar raha tha. Aur ye mai real mei hoon.”

The way Ved tries to explain to Tara, what he is and has become, since the two lead characters met in the storyline. The sheer innocence and authenticity with which this dialogue has been delivered, it just hits the spot.

  1. “Ye tum nahi ho Ved. ye sab nakli hai.”

Right in the feels, this one. How many times have you met that one person in your life who knows the real you and always believes you deserve the world?

  1. “Kyuki sab bhaag rahe hain, isliye mai bhi bhaag raha hoon.”

The reality of a majority of today’s younger generation, with almost all of them stuck in a rut and routine of achieving success as early as possible, bogged down by responsibilities early on and often neglecting what they actually love to do in the daily.

  1. “Kise chahiye mann ka sona, aankh ke moti. Kise padi hai andar kya hai”

Another absolute gem of a dialogue reminding us of our increasing dependence on instant gratifications and materialism instead of valuing people's genuine emotions for us.

  1. “Bachpan mujhse kehta hai mai bohot special hoon. Lekin usko toh maine kuchal diya.”

Hitting the right chords, Ved nonchalantly mentions and reminisces his childhood very fondly wherein he was accustomed to storytelling and drama unlike his very different reality today.

  1. “Ek din mujhe pata chala tha ki Santa Claus nai hota, bahut bura laga tha.”

Like Ved, between believing in some things and growing up to find out they are all half-baked truths and stories, we grew up too!

  1. “Darta hai? Darr lagta hai? Apni kahani mujhse puchta hai, kaayar to kisse darta hai? Bata, bol apni kahaani. Kya hai tere dil ke andar?”

Confronting the truth head-on is one thing we as the younger generation are not good at. Well, we must admit that!

  1. “Pasand nahi aayi ending? Toh badal do!”

As they say, saving the best for the last. Always believing that we are the writers of our own stories. This dialogue proves why this movie shall only age like fine wine and be remembered for decades to come.

Always thankful for this amazing story by Imtiaz Ali and bringing to our minds the serene visions of Corsica and the stunning duo of Deepika and Ranbir which we can never get enough of.
