In the sea of commercial cinema, there are some films that deserve multiple rewatches. These films had either addressed a taboo topic from a new perspective or explored a new avenue that grabbed the attention of cinema-goers. If you still haven’t watched these films, you are missing out on a good time. See how many films you can check off this list:

1. Andaz Apna Apna:

Andaz Apna Apna was way ahead of its time in the way that it portrayed slapstick comedy. Although the film did not do so well at the box office when it was first released, it gained a cult following over the years. The film has crazy scenarios that will have you in stitches by the end.

2. Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge:

A feel-good romantic story, DDLJ is still rewatched by the die-hard fans of the film. The film follows the love story of Raj and Simran who meet while backpacking through Europe. It definitely set the bar way too high for romance.

3. Padman:

The film broke the taboo around menstruation through the journey of a man who designs a sanitary pad in an economic way. The protagonist, played by Akshay Kumar battles obstacles and ridicule to educate people in his village. The film is really inspiring and has the subplot of a husband’s devotion towards his wife.

4. Dil Chahta Hai:

The story of three friends cruising through life together until an unwelcome comment drives a wedge between them. The friends individually come to revelations as they mature in age and intellect. Also, Dil Chahta Hai is definitely the reason for all the Goa plans.

5. Queen:

The Kangana Ranaut starrer is perhaps one of the best rediscovery stories there is. The story revolves around a girl who goes on a solo honeymoon and breaks the barriers that control her. The friends and the cultures she befriends along the way will surely inspire you to finally take that solo trip you have been planning.

6. Barfi:

Barfi has everything a good film is expected to have. The film follows the life journey of Murphy who is mute and deaf since birth. However, the film does not hyper-focus on his disability but rather on his zeal for life. You will have a constant smile on your face as you watch Murphy and his antics.

7. Mary Kom:

A biopic of the six-time world champion Mary Kom, the plot features Priyanka Chopra as Mary Kom. The film follows her journey and the sacrifices she made along the way. The film also has the sub-plot of a doting husband who is the boxer’s biggest supporter.

8. Haider:

An adaptation of William Shakespeare’s Hamlet, Haider lets the tragedy play out in a different way in the tumultuous climate of Kashmir. The film has an incredible monologue acted to perfection by Shahid Kapoor. Although the film is very serious, it’s not heavy on the heart, thus making it an entertaining watch.

9. Delhi Belly:

The comedy of errors Delhi Belly is a rollercoaster from start to finish. The film has just the right balance of comedy, drama and suspense. The hilarious plot of the film adds to the stellar cast and is one of the films you would love to rewatch.

10. Hera Pheri:

We would be remiss if we spoke of comedies and did not mention Hera Pheri. The film is still meme fodder on the internet, immortalised by dialogues that seem as silly as they seem authentic. Hera Pheri takes you on a wild ride with Raju, Shyam, and Babu bhaiyya, who use the wrong number to turn their fate.
