IIFA Awards 2019, the 20th edition of the legendary Bollywood award night witnessed some of the best dance performances that set the stage on fire and kept the audience captivated. From the likes of Sara Ali Khan to Madhuri Dixit, the tinsel town rockstars nailed their dance moves and surely rocked the stage at IIFA 2019.
To start off Ranveer Singh, our energetic Gully Boy kickstarted the night with ‘Mere Gully Mein’ an ode to IIFAs homecoming and then shook a leg to several of his songs from his latest release Gully Boy. The highlight of his performance was when his Simmba co-star Sara Ali Khan spontaneously joined him from the crowd and performed to the nation’s current favourite dance number ‘Aankh Marey’. By the end of his power-packed performance to Malhari and Khalibali, all we felt was a major dose of some ‘Ranveer Singh level energy’.
Aayush Sharma then took the stage and turned quite a few heads for his marvellous debut performance on the IIFA stage. He kept the audience enthralled throughout the act and all we wanted to do was put our Garba shoes on and shake a leg to Chogada Tara with him.
Where’s the josh? Roared, Vicky Kaushal with a debut performance that literally lit the entire place up! From swaying to songs from Uri to pumping up the place with some much-needed Punjabi swag to classic songs like Gur Nalo Ishq Mitha, Vicky Kaushal set the josh and spirits sky-high at IIFA 2019 and we can’t wait to see more of the nation’s newest heartthrob.
Sara Ali Khan was the true star tonight as she jammed to her parents’ hits like Ole Ole and Yaar Bina Chain Kahan Re and gave a befitting tribute to Amrita Singh and Saif Ali Khan. This girl swayed, slayed and had everyone chant ‘Sara you seriously are a Tara’, by the end of her enchanting act.
Our hearts went ‘dhak dhak’, as Madhuri Dixit owned the IIFA stage with her tribute act to her guru and one of Bollywood's very best master of choreography, Saroj Khan. She gave a jhakaas performance as she danced to Sarjojis’ collection of popular dance numbers from like Ek! Do! Teen!, Dola Re Dola, Chane Ke Khet Mein among a few. The audience teared up when she danced to Sridevi’s hit song Kate Nahi Kat Te, and paid a tribute to her as well. All in all, this performance was not only mazedaar but memorable too!
Katrina Kaif delivered a sizzling performance and had us singing ‘Suraiya jaan legi kya’, as she tapped her feet to her recent hits like Suraiya and Aithey Aa, to name a few. She looked, danced and made the entire act feel like a dream and we only wish it didn’t have to end.
Who better than Bollywood's Bhaijaan to conclude the night with a tribute to 20 years of IIFA and 20 years of Being Salman Khan? Sallu Bhai set the mood right as he opened his act with Swag Se Karenge Swagat and then moved on to sway to all of his hits from the past years like Garam Chai Ki Pyali Ho from Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega, Didi Tera Devar Deewana from Hum Aapke Hai Koun, Tera Hi Jalwa from Wanted, Baby Ko Bass Pasand Hai from Sultan among others and had the crowd going crazy!
We couldn’t ask for a more feel-good and fitting end to the grand spectacle of IIFA 2019. With each of our performers bringing down the stage, the energy levels from the crowd were soaring! We surely won’t forget the performances of the night and hope to take it even higher next year!
