2018 has been an incredible year in Bollywood. With bold and powerful stories and good filmmaking, Indian cinema gave us some interesting films to remember. But what enhanced our experience were the actors who made their roles count and took the film industry to another level.

Here are some of the actors who made their mark with their performances:

The Masaan star gained quite prominence this year. His character of Iqbal Syed in Raazi followed by his role of Kamlesh in Sanju earned him ample appreciation. Whether it was his role of an impulsive DJ in Manmarziyan or the oblivious husband in the anthology-Lust Stories, Vicky made a mark in each film with his work.

The actor had quite an eventful year with films like Fanney Khan and Stree, among other films. We loved him in each of his roles in these popular films. While the role of urban middle-class youth in Fanney Khan was adorable, his character of the quirky ladies- tailor in a semi-urban setting of Stree was humorous.

The multi-talented actor-singer is known for his unique choice of films. On one hand, he was the blind pianist caught up in complex circumstances in Andhadhun. On the other hand, he was the 25-year old lad struggling with his middle-aged mother’s sudden pregnancy. Both his films were critically acclaimed.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui

The Gangs of Wasseypur star shone brightly this year, with two powerful projects. We saw him in the biographical drama called Manto, as the famous Urdu author Saadat Hasan Manto and his struggles due to communal tensions. At the same time, we found him in a stark opposite character, that of the gangster Ganesh Gaitonde in the Netflix series Sacred Games, leaving us impressed with his work in each role.
