5 times Amitabh Bachchan Stole Our Hearts

If there is anyone who doesn’t need an introduction, it is Big B.

From being known as the angry young man to winning our hearts in more subtle roles over the years, he has truly done it all. With humble beginnings, Amitabh Bachchan has had one of the most interesting and incredible journeys of any Bollywood celebrity.

Read on to look back on five of the many great roles he has brought to life.

Sholay, one of Hindi cinema’s most iconic movies and loved by all generations alike, would not be what it is without Big B’s legendary Jai. Playing alongside Dharmendra, Sholay saw the creation of one of Bollywood’s most famous friend duos, loved and remembered even today.

Deewar’s Vijay Verma, a dock worker turned gangster, cemented Big B’s image as the Angry Young Man. His performance was intense, giving audiences a glimpse into what Bachchan was truly capable of.

Played by several actors after him, Big B is and always will be known as the original Don. Playing the double role of the elusive criminal Don and his lookalike Vijay, Bachchan created a character for the ages, giving fans quotable dialogues that are popular even today.

In a major shift from his roles as a young man, Bachchan is seen as a constipated, cranky, but really endearing old man in the film Piku, directed by Shoojit Sircar. He becomes the heart of this family drama, giving us a performance that cannot really be put into words but can simply be enjoyed.
