5 reasons why you should watch Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui

Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui released on 10th December 2021 and made everyone’s weekend plans better. Indian audiences, who were taken aback, waited with anticipation to see the transformation of Ayushmann Khurrana as a fitness buff Manu, who falls in love with the gorgeous Maanvi, played by Vaani Kapoor, a Zumba instructor. It’s safe to say that the film dropped with a bang, louder than Manu’s barbell.

In case you are still searching for a reason to watch the film, here are 5 reason why you should check it out.

  1. The chemistry: The sizzling chemistry between the protagonists, Vaani and Ayushmann, is palpable. They compliment each other well and the contrasts between their characters is recognisable.

  1. Tackling stereotypes: Vaani Kapoor plays a transgender woman who is met with an angry Manu when she tells him the truth. The film tries to employ a sensitive approach to the struggles of the transgender community and touches on subjects like gender dysphoria, transphobic comments and discrimination.

  1. The talent: Ayushmann Khurrana has always been the golden boy for a social message film. The real surprise, however, was Vaani Kapoor who was brave, bold and incredible in her role as Maanvi. Her journey in the film will make you emotional. Ayushmann’s dedication to play Manu inspiring the transformation as the macho, gym-freak, Punjabi boy, will leave you awestruck.

  1. The screenplay: A good screenplay helps make a good story better and that’s exactly the case with the screenplay written by Supratik Sen and Tushar Paranjape. The humour is peppered in just the right amount in the story, allowing the time for serious subjects in the film, to breathe.

  1. The songs: Rarely does it happen in a Bollywood movie that the songs act as a means to propel the story forward. The film uses songs to tell us the struggle of the characters as well as to showcase a redeeming character arc.

In conclusion, Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui deserves your precious time for the effort it displays to represent the transgender community.
