IIFA FRINGE FESTIVAL LAUNCHED
The full programme for the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Fringe Festival is now available online at www.yorkshire.com. The action-packed cultural festival will run from 6-10 June 2007 and offers something for people of all ages.

YTB chief executive, David Andrews, said: "For the first time in IIFA's history, Yorkshire has organised a fantastic Fringe Festival during the weekend. There will be mela, theatre, music, fashion, food and much more celebrating our cultural links with India.

"But more than that, we're keen to give our visitors a real taste of Yorkshire, the romantic castles and stately homes, shopping, and of course the countryside, our glorious National Parks and fantastic outdoors with great get away from it all hotels and inns. Perfect.

"There's real excitement here and overseas. Yorkshire has an outstanding reputation for hospitality and we're looking forward to welcoming a whole new market."

Here's a preview to whet your appetite:

Bradford - 'Bollywood Steps' - a stage spectacular inspired by Bollywood movies, plus capture the sights, smells and sounds of South Asia at the Bradford Mini Mela and 'Bollywood Bazaar'.

Leeds - 'Bollywood Jane' at the West Yorkshire Playhouse, plus 'Bollywood in the Park' with the popular Leeds Mela in beautiful Roundhay Park.

Sheffield - 'Bollywood in the Basin' - a feast of fashion, dance, art and craft in Victoria Quays, plus art, fashion and family fun throughout the city.

York - 'East meets West' - fashion show at the National Railway Museum showcasing the region's top designers, plus dance to the beat of the Bollywood Baja Band - one of Europe's first Indian brass bands.

Wakefield - 'Wakefield Mela' - celebrate the region's fabulous multi-cultural diversity at this unique event with a South Asian twist.

Rotherham - Catch the live action from the glittering awards ceremony on the big screen in All Saints' Square, plus dance, music, drama, stalls, face painting and more.

Beverley - Beverley Polo Club is the setting for an alluring blend of horsepower, passion and steely determination at the 'Yorkshire Nations Cup International Polo Match'.

Scarborough - Enjoy the dramatic Thundercat World Championships - heart pumping stuff!

The bid for the IIFA Yorkshire Weekend 2007 was undertaken by Yorkshire Tourist Board (YTB), with the support of Yorkshire Forward. IIFA is expected to bring 28,000 visitors to Yorkshire in June 2007 and generate £10 million of direct tourism spend. Yorkshire's profile as a leading tourism destination will also be raised amongst a global TV audience of 500 million.
