In the true team spirit of the International Indian Film Academy Weekend (IIFAs) and one of the many highlights to grace the star-filled itinerary of the IIFA Weekend of 7th - 10th June, the IIFA Foundation Charity Celebrity Cricket Match will take place on Friday 8th June 2007 at Headingley Carnegie Stadium - the venue of some of the greatest test matches ever.

The IIFA celebrity team will combine Asia's cricketing greats with A-list stars from the Indian film fraternity, playing against a UK celebrity cricket team, again with UK cricket legends and leading celebrities. In true Hindi-cinema style, the match will undoubtedly be action-packed, laced with its fair share of gags and sporting misdemeanours. Applauded by fans of cricket and cinema alike, proceeds from the match will be donated to the IIFA Foundation.

Acting legend and IIFA Brand Ambassador, Amitabh Bachchan, will inaugurate one of the hottest ticketed events in town, before being joined by celluloid stud and starlet, Salman Khan and Shilpa Shetty to commence proceedings with the toss-up. A jest-filled commentary will be provided by actors Chunky Pandey and Boman Irani, with special appearance as commentators by Preity Zinta and Urmila Matondkar on hand to mark their signature elegance on proceedings.

Captained by sultry pin-up boy Saif Ali Khan, the IIFA celebrity team will boast the cricketing prowess and power of cricket legend Kapil Dev, Mohammed Azharuddin, Zayed Khan, Fardeen Khan, Suneil Shetty, Aftab Shivdasani, Riteish Deshmukh, Sohail Khan, Bobby Deol, Anil Kapoor and Abhishek Bachchan, among a host of others. The event will be broadcast globally by STAR TV to reach nearly 500 million viewers in 110 countries.
