The Ontario Tourism Marketing Partnership Corporation recently held a private reception to celebrate the selection of Toronto, Ontario being chosen as the host of the 12th edition of the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Videocon d2h IIFA Weekend and Floriana IIFA Awards.
Toronto will be the first North American city to host the star-studded Weekend from the 16th to the 19th of June, 2011. In the past the Awards have dazzled Amsterdam, Dubai and Sun City, among other beau locales, recently capping its golden decade in Macau.
The reception hosted by the President and CEO of the Ontario Tourism Marketing Partnership Corporation, Robin Garrett, was well attended by a large number of Canadian delegates from various premier tour operators and Destination Management Organizations (DMO) including Tourism Toronto, Tourism Victoria, Mazda Travels, DMCi and Niagara Falls Tourism among others and representatives from major Hotel chains like the Holiday Inn, the Starwood Hotels and Resorts, the Silver Hotel Group, Realstar Hospitality, etc..
At the reception, Ms. Garrett interacted with members of the Indian travel trade. She, along with the Canadian Tourism Commission team, happily apprised the Indian travel fraternity about the elaborate arrangements that will be made for Indian travelers to make IIFA 2011 a memorable gala affair
Members from the Indian Film Industry, DiaMirza, BomanIrani and NehaDupia also joined the festivities and spoke about their association with IIFA over the last decade and the benefits reaped by the country of hosting each year, in terms of business liaisons, tourism opportunities, identifying of film and trade associations, amongst others. Speaking IIFA 2011, Andre Timmins, Director - Wizcraft International Entertainment, said, "IIFA is pleased to make its North American premiere in Ontario.
